Ways to Supply Power to your Party Marquees

party marquees
If you want to organise an outdoor party, it is just not as simple as it may seem. Whether it is a  small  or a big party, you want it to be comfortable, enjoyable and safe. One of the most important aspects that contribute to make your party a success is power supply. Power supply is necessary for decoration, DJ, caterers and other contractors. In a nutshell, you cannot do without it. Arranging for power supply to party marquees can be quite a challenge, hence you need to plan about it, so that power interruptions do not play spoilsport.

Let's take a gander at the ways to provide power supply to party marquees:

1.Power supply through extension leads
2.Generator
3.Temporary circuits

1. Power Supply through extension leads

  • Be sure about the power requirements, so that you are sure about the number of extension leads you will need. If you believe that more than 3 extension leads will be required, you should go for the other alternatives.
  • Extensions should never be overloaded as it could lead to power failures and short circuits. Take a note of the maximum loading it could take and your power requirements.
  • To prevent any accidental loss, earth leakage circuit breakers must be used.
  • Do not run extension leads in such a way that people stumble over them.
  • Using extension leads is a good idea but not when party marquees are far from the supply. Using a generator or temporary circuits will be a good option then.

2. Generator

  • Generators can create a lot of noise, but super silent generators are available in the market nowadays. You can speak to your generator hire company for that.
  • The generator should be placed far from the marquee, so that it doesn't cause any inconvenience to your guests.
  • Standard 13 amp sockets will be required, so make sure that it is included in generator hire.
  • Keep some extra diesel so that there are no last minute problems. The tank must be full before the event starts.

3. Temporary Circuits

  • You will need an electrician for this. You will need power for decoration, DJ floor etc, so let your electrician know about it.
  • Ask him to not overlook the safety aspect as people might trip over the cables and injure themselves.
